PG&E Broadens Vehicle-to-Everything Pilot with New OEM Partners and Significant Incentives

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has officially expanded its Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) pilot program, adding qualified models from Tesla, Volvo, and Nissan to the eligible vehicle list. The program now offers qualified participants up to $17,000 in total incentives to install compatible bidirectional chargers and actively participate in grid services.

The expanded pilot leverages electric vehicle batteries for both vehicle-to-home (V2H) backup power and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) energy export. Participants must meet specific usage requirements, including minimum participation hours during peak demand events, and agree to share performance data with PG&E to support technology assessment.

This means for B2B buyers and fleet operators: V2X capability can transform EVs from operational expenses into revenue-generating or cost-saving assets. By exporting stored energy during high-price periods, commercial fleets can offset charging costs, reduce facility peak demand charges, and participate in emerging energy markets.
